My 3 1/2-year-old is dealing with "monsters". Suddenly he's in my bed all night long and I can't get him back into his own bed. Until last month, my son had no problem sleeping most of the night in his room - then he crawled into my bed around 5:30 a.m.

I'm a stepmum of a 2 1/2-year-old. Her biological mother doesn't have her on a regular sleep pattern. When her father and I get her she will not go to sleep, which means we can't sleep. Do you have any advice for us? By the way, it is impossible to speak to the mother!

Our son will be 3 years old next month. Lately he has been insisting that his bedroom lamp remain on all night. I have switched to a 40-watt bulb just to make the room as dark as possible. Is there any reason for us not to allow this practice? I worry about his eyes, etc. He does have a nightlight in his room, but that does not seem adequate for him. If I get up in the night and turn the light off we find it on in the morning - which means he is getting up at night and disturbing his sleep. Should we just wait for this phase to pass, or be firm and unplug the light?

We have been co-sleeping since birth. Now our daughter is 2, and I think that maybe it's time to put her in a toddler bed. I am at a loss as to how to begin this process. She is still being breastfed at bed and naptime only. I would like to stop this as well, but how? Help!

My 2-year-old wants my husband to sleep with him every night. My husband started doing this because we had a newborn who took over the cot and my 2-year-old was getting used to his new bed. Now we can't get him to stop wanting Dad to sleep with him. Any suggestions?

I have a 2-year-old son who refuses to stay in his bed or in his room at nap/bedtime. He will not sleep more than four to five hours at night, and maybe an hour or so during the day (if I'm lucky). I am concerned that he is not resting enough and this could affect his health. Our GP suggested and prescribed an antihistamine. It didn't help much. He also said maybe we should lock his door from the outside to keep him in his room, since he wanders through the house when he gets up at night. I think that is a bit drastic, but tonight we are trying it. HELP!

My 27-month-old child still insists on sleeping in his playpen. He will not sleep in the normal bed we've bought for him. And most of the time I find him asleep on the floor in front of his bedroom door. Is this a normal problem with children when it's time to switch to a larger bed or should I be concerned?

My daughter is 2 years old and has never slept through the night. She wakes up two to three times a night and wants a bottle. She also seems to be having nightmares - she is very restless. Needless to say, neither of us sleeps. Please help me. Is there any medication that will take away the restlessness and screaming so that she can stay asleep through the night?

Our 21-month-old daughter naps every day for one to three hours in the early afternoon. Night-time is a very different story. Every one to two hours she wakes up crying, continues for a few seconds and then falls back to sleep. Recently we gave her Triaminic for a cold and she slept through the night, three days in a row! When we stopped giving her Triaminic, the crying started again. What happened? And will she ever sleep through the night?
